Car rentals
The short list, verified.
You must rent a car on St. Croix — there is no other reliable way to get around. There is no Uber or Lyft in the U.S. Virgin Islands (a couple of small local app services exist, but they are not always available), and taxis are expensive and hard to depend on for a week of beaches and dinners. The villa sits on the quiet East End, Christiansted is fifteen minutes away, and the island's best days (Cane Bay, the rainforest, Frederiksted at sunset) are drives. The good news: St. Croix has an unusually strong bench of local rental companies that meet flights, deliver cars, and answer their phones.
One thing to know before you turn the key: the U.S. Virgin Islands drive on the LEFT — in normal left-hand-drive American cars. It feels strange for about ten minutes, then it doesn't. Roundabouts and 35 mph limits keep the pace honest.
