Rent a Caribbean villa — no passport required.
A real Caribbean island, on U.S. soil.
The Cerulean is a private five-bedroom oceanfront villa on the East End of St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Because the territory is U.S. soil, a U.S. citizen flies here on a domestic ticket — no passport, no immigration booth, no customs line on arrival, and the U.S. dollar the whole time.
It is the Caribbean with the friction removed: turquoise water and a private beach of your own, but the paperwork of a flight to Florida. Two things to know before you pack: you board with a REAL ID-compliant license (or a passport, which is still handy if your citizenship is ever questioned), and on the way home you clear a short U.S. customs and agriculture check at the St. Croix or St. Thomas airport before boarding. That is why families and groups who don’t all hold current passports keep choosing St. Croix — nobody gets stranded at a document counter.

A domestic flight, then a short drive.
Fly into Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) the same way you’d fly anywhere in the country: board with a REAL ID or a passport, land, collect your bags, and drive. There is no passport control, because you never left the United States. American flies Miami year-round; Charlotte, Chicago, Atlanta and — from October 31, 2026 — Newark add seasonal nonstops. The villa is about thirty minutes from the terminal.
Children under 18 need no ID to fly with you, and grandparents without a current passport travel on a REAL ID license — the reason a twelve-person, three-generation week actually comes together here.

Dollars, your own phone plan, and a beach at the bottom of the steps.
U.S. currency, U.S. mail, major carriers that treat the islands as domestic, and a private beach with the reef a few feet out. The only genuinely foreign habit is driving on the left.

Renting in the Caribbean without a passport.
Can I rent a Caribbean house without a passport?
Yes — if it sits on U.S. soil. The U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John) and Puerto Rico are U.S. territories, so U.S. citizens reach them on domestic flights with no passport. The Cerulean is a private five-bedroom villa on St. Croix's East End that sleeps twelve, with its own beach and direct access to the water.
Do I need a passport to fly to St. Croix?
Not as a U.S. citizen. Since May 2025 the TSA requires a REAL ID-compliant license — or a passport — to board any U.S. flight, and St. Croix counts as domestic. Children under 18 flying with an adult need no ID of their own.
Is St. Croix really the Caribbean?
Yes. St. Croix is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, in the Caribbean Sea about 40 miles south of St. Thomas — a full Caribbean island that happens to be U.S. territory, with reef snorkeling, trade winds and turquoise water.
What about the trip home?
Flights to the mainland clear a short U.S. customs and agriculture check before boarding, because the USVI sits outside the U.S. customs zone. It is minutes, not a border, and it comes with a bigger perk than any foreign trip: a $1,600 duty-free allowance per person.
