Built by Love, Inspired by the Island
Like many good love stories, this one started with travel.
Over the years, we explored our way through the Caribbean looking for our forever home— Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Bonaire, Carriacou, Curacao, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, the Grenadines, Nevis, St Kitts, St Lucia, St John, St Thomas, Turks and Caicos, and Vieques … each one beautiful in its own way. But then we came to St. Croix, and something just clicked. The island felt real and welcoming. The people were warm and genuine. Life moved a little slower (in the best way), and the views—endless blues, dramatic skies, and wide-open space—made it easy to breathe a little deeper. It didn’t feel like a place you visit. It felt like a place you stay.
Then we found The Cerulean.
What drew us in immediately were the sweeping ocean views, the sense of privacy, and the feeling that the house was perfectly positioned between nature and comfort. It had great bones, incredible energy, and the kind of setting that makes you pause mid-sentence just to stare at the water. We knew this was the one.
Of course, once we fell in love, we also rolled up our sleeves.
We completely reimagined the property—from an interior remodel to a total outdoor and landscaping refresh—so it would feel relaxed, beautiful, and effortless. Indoors we added modern technology and infrastructure. Outdoors we added lush tropical landscaping and a tranquil waterfall that quickly became one of our favorite spots to unwind. We planted vibrant bougainvillea, majestic palms, flamboyants, and fruit trees throughout the property—guava, papaya, figs, bananas, lemon, lime, and passion fruit—and yes, guests are absolutely welcome to enjoy them. There’s nothing better than picking fresh fruit and eating it with an ocean view. We also invested in new outdoor furniture and a premium outdoor kitchen designed for long, lazy afternoons, sunset cocktails, and “just one more hour” by the pool.
Inside, we obsessed over the details. We went on a not-so-glamorous but very important mission to find the perfect towels and bed sheets—testing them for a few months first, of course—because great sleep and plush towels are non-negotiable. If you’re going to feel spoiled on vacation, this is where it should start. We also made a point to seek out and meet local artists, bringing their work into The Cerulean so the home reflects the soul and creativity of St. Croix, not just its scenery.
Every choice we made came from one simple goal: to create a place that feels loved, cared for, and genuinely special. A home where you can relax completely, laugh often, sleep well, and leave already planning your return.
